The process of global trade union unification brings to the table issues relating to physical integration between the preexisting structures, as well as strategic conceptual issues. One of these issues is informality and precariousness from the socio-political standpoint.
For this reason TUCA takes very seriously the issue of informal economy workers. During its founding Congress it has been recognized that:
- Considerable effort has been made to incorporate workers from informal economy, female, youth and rural workers, but they have not been sufficient or had the necessary effectiveness to achieve the objective. Consequently, the Congress recommends the TUCA and its affiliates to commit to a deep restructuring and reform of the trade union movement.
- The structures need greater coverage and expression of diversity, as well as to facilitate and stimulate the broadest grassroots participation possible in the path towards trade union democracy. All exclusion and discrimination must be eliminated. We fight for the eradication of precarious and informal work, yet they continue to exist so the organization and struggle of workers of those sectors is indispensable in order to achieve our objective.
